"We often miss out with walking in the true power of God because our own thoughts are sitting on the throne rooms of our mouths!"
~Chaplain Scott
Speech fasting is so awesome! It opens the windows of our spiritual ears of understanding and with it comes the discernment to put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.
It's like the words from others come alive, either to show the vanity of so many or the place where they really are in their lives.
It's like when one is tuned but stays quiet then the instruments that are around that aren't tuned can be heard clearly to know what they may need.
It's a hard thing to express, but catch what I'm trying to say...
when we're silent, void of being caught up in our own speech and thoughts, other senses kick in especially if one is walking in the Spirit of the Lord, and that's where the exercising of discernment takes shape. By fasting our own words, our very thoughts start becoming acutely aware to us in our minds and as one remembers not to speak
...their thoughts stand out like orange hunting vests in the woods of words coming from all directions from others around us.
Like once while fasting my speech, I was in a grocery line at Krogers. My senses were acutely sharp and as the cashier spoke, I heard in her words the worry she had. A worry concerning her child.
The lady behind me had all kinds of impatience and suddenly I heard her thoughts by the Holy Spirit! She said: "Why do I always get in the line of the idiot deadbeats?! This guy needs a shave!"
Wow, she was referring to me and the cashier who because was worried, and not having her mind on her work was messing up, punching the wrong keys.
I simply turned around and said: "Mame, my wife and kids happen to like my beard the way it is. Yes I may appear to need a shave to some, but there's a reason why my beard is long. I'm a Chaplain to
the deadbeats and bikers, and this is how the Lord Jesus instructed me to look."
BAM....I mean BAM BAM BAM....she was stunned and her mouth dropped open, and she found herself trying to explain her
....her own thoughts that I was not supposed to know!
She stuttered, "How...mercy me...how did you know what I was thinking??" ...... The whole line stopped. The cashier stopped and peered at me.
They were interested in knowing what I would say. Then I remembered that I was fasting my words, and that I had spoken!!
I hesitated. 'Should I continue speaking Lord?' I asked.
He reminded me of the scripture about
'being ready always to give an account of the promise that is in us', and I continued to say:
"Mame, it's a gift from the power of the Holy Spirit spoken of in the book of Acts in the Holy Bible. I use it to lift up Jesus and to give hope to those in need."
At that moment I turned as the Lord gave me the insight and faced the cashier that appeared to be of the age of 30 something, and said: "Your daughter is going to be fine. The infection and the congestion is breaking up because Jesus loves her."
Now what I had said was simply a repeat of what was told me, as my own thoughts were stilled and listening to the MIND OF CHRIST.
I simple said what He would have said, with the exception of replacing the nouns and pronouns to fit so she would understand.
What came to me was simply this: "Tell her: her daughter is going to be fine. The infection and the congestion is breaking up because I love her."
The cashier's eyes stretched wide and she appeared amazed. She continued repeating a few times, "How did you know?" and thanked me over and over.
I felt the impatience subside in the lady behind me, knowing this all had her in deep thought.
I took my small bag of groceries and with a smile and a nod continued towards the exit, again continuing in the fast of my speech.
The last few words I heard that were exchanged between the impatience
woman and the cashier were:
"I've never had that happen to me before!"
"Me neither! but praise the Lord, that had to be from the Lord! How'd else could he have known I have a daughter suffering with a sinus infection?"
Praise God!
We often miss out with walking in the true power of God because our own thoughts are sitting on the throne rooms of our mouths!
1 Pet 2:15
For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: (KJV)
