~ My Handyman Friend

Dear LORD,
I will trust you in everything.
The battle is not mine to fight.
I’m listening. It’s by your Spirit,
not by power nor by might!

My own understanding misguides
me each and everytime.
That’s why I lean on Thines’s
for all these to be fixed in time:

The flat on the Harley will only lead
to more righteous contacts,
as so will the brakes I need to bleed.
These won’t stop me in my tracks!

The leak under the house will only strengthen
my inward part that hates to do such chores
and I will praise you as my handyman friend
as my body craws under the floors!

When I reach that tight place
I will give you praise!
And as the dust gathers upon my face
your helping hand will give me grace!

There are trees fallen down
from a storm with high winds
but they'll soon be firewood
I can give to needy friends!

You're my handyman friend
with the well pump on the blink;
with the washer that won't spin;
and even with the clogged kitchen sink!

The refrigerator won't cool
and the microwave won't heat
but LORD you have your tools
to meet our every need!

LORD, the car won't drive
and the electric line is down!
But as long as you are by my side
I have no reasons to frown!

You're my handyman friend
who repaired my broken heart
and fixed my sinful soul
from it's destructive end;

It's ok if all else breaks down
and the roof caves in;
as long as I have you around
as My Handy Man Friend!

Author's Note:
All these things were in need of repair after a destructive ice storm, and though some were not directly related to the storm, I had put them off until all these other problems mounted up. I felt overwhelmed. So I brought every problem before the LORD in calmness while writing down this poem and thereafter each and every problem was repaired or replaced with His help, except for one: I need to re-repair the roof; only because it was the one job I had leaned too heavily on with my own understanding.
