Scripture Ref. Setting:

Jer 49:13- For I have sworn by myself, saith the LORD, that Bozrah shall become a desolation, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all the cities thereof shall be perpetual wastes. (KJV)

The words, "a reproach" are translated from the one Hebrew word: cherpah (kher-paw'), meaning:
a) taunt, scorn (upon enemy)
b) reproach (resting upon the condition of shame, disgrace)
c) a reproach (as an object of reproach)

Saddam has been shamed and disgraced internationally as a liar when the truth was proven that he was lying to the U.S. and UN, by harboring weapons of destruction. Whether or not they were 'weapons of mass destruction', the fact still remains that he did have many concealed weapons he claimed he didn't have!

The words, "a waste", are translated from the one Hebrew word: choreb (kho'-reb), meaning: drought or desolation. This word "Choreb" "collaterally" comes from a word (chereb) that can be defined as a destructive effect that brings a drought through the use of a "CUTTING INSTRUMENT". As a collateral (joint) effort, America and the UK along with others have cut Iraq off through the desolation effects of war to bring a drought to any weapons not reported to the UN.

The words, "and a curse", are translated from the one Hebrew word: qelalah (kel-aw-law'); meaning: vilification. Qelalah comes from the word qalal- meaning "to make light, to lighten; to be abated; to treat with contempt, to bring contempt or dishonor, to be insignificant, or to make despicable!

Saddam and his son's regime has now been made insignificant, and the horror of their reign is just now starting to be told how despicable it was. Such as ordering teachers to bring school aged girls to one of Saddam's son's home so he could choose which ones he wanted to rape that day!

When it speaks of the cities as being- "perpetual wastes", it is simply meaning "a long duration" period- where Iraq will 'always' never again pose a threat.

The word, "perpetual", is translated from the one Hebrew word: `owlam (o-lawm'); and in the adverbial usage(especially with prepositional prefix) it simply means "always" as properly, concealed, in the example of a vanishing point; generally, time out of mind (past or future), i.e. (practically) eternity; but NOT necessarily for an eternity, but the use of `owlam here simply carries the sense of: "an indefinite period of time" that will 'always' continue to be.

Jer 49:14- I have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent unto the heathen, saying, Gather ye together, and come against her, and rise up to the battle. (KJV)

This may simply be saying: Jer 49:14 TLB- "I have heard this message from the Lord: "I have sent a messenger to call the nations to form a coalition against Edom and destroy her".

Here we can see how this might be referring to Colin Powell, sent as the spokesman or ambassador for the USA with his historic hour or longer appeal to the UN, revealing US Government findings, saying in his own way, "Gather ye together, and come against her, and rise up to the battle". He also spoke of the threat of Saddam and his regime as being one that is compared to Hitler's, a madman!

It's strange, but during the controversy time of whether or not to use military force on Saddam and Iraqian followers, we find OBL as an ambassador or spokesman figure to the Arab world and terrorists, urging in recorded messages in his own words for the Islamic world to: "Gather ye together, and come against her, (America) and rise up to the battle!"

But whose side is the one True God really on?

Jer 49:15-16- For, lo, I will make thee (Ammonites in Edom) small among the heathen, and despised among men. Thy terribleness hath deceived thee, and the pride of thine heart, O thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, that holdest the height of the hill: though thou shouldest make thy nest as high as the eagle, I will bring thee down from thence, saith the LORD. (KJV)

Jer 49:17 continues to speak concerning how horrible the fate of Edom will be; all who go by will be appalled and gasp at the sight.

Verse 19 tells how God will send against them one who will come like a lion from the wilds of Jordan stalking the sheep in the fold. Bush has ordered and leads the military operation to free Iraq, unrentlessly as a lion from the wilds of Jordan stalking the sheep in the fold. He has stalked each terrorists and other terrorist evil axis nation's leaders, one after the other, with promises to continue doing so. Verse 19 also speaks of Edom suddenly being destroyed. This is exactly what has taken place in this war with Iraq. It has surprised the UN and many nations (especially France) with the quick, swift military, history making performance! And though there are some UN leaders working to impeach Bush JR, or to cause him and others to face a World Court, there is not a thing that will come of it!

Because Verse 19 makes this clear. It reads in the NAS version this way:

Jer 49:17 NAS- "whoever is chosen I shall appoint over it. For who is like Me, and who will summon Me {into court?} And who then is the shepherd who can stand against Me?"

~God is behind this move against Iraq- and all supporters of terrorism. Why? Because:

Isa 34:8 KJV- "For it is the day of the LORD's vengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion".

~And-

Isa 30:31-32 KJV- For through the voice of the LORD shall the Assyrian be beaten down, which smote with a rod. And in every place where the grounded staff shall pass, which the LORD shall lay upon him, it shall be with tabrets and harps: and in battles of shaking will he fight with it.

concerning the 'nations with the sieve of vanity", and how in the Hebrew language that little word 'vanity' itself means: "terrorists who devoutly follow a false god and religion".

Jer 49:20- Therefore hear the counsel of the LORD, that he hath taken against Edom; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitations desolate with them. (KJV)

~Here we find this exactly happening in the news! At this time, brave U.S. foot soldiers are boldly exposing their positions in an attempt to draw any opposing Iraqis snipers out of hiding, so they may more quickly clear and secure the city of Baghdad!

Jer 49:21- The earth is moved at the noise of their fall, at the cry the noise thereof was heard in the Red sea. (KJV)

~No doubt the bombs are heard by U.S. Naval men in ships on the Red Sea!

Jer 49:22- Behold, he shall come up and fly as the eagle, and spread his wings over Bozrah: and at that day shall the heart of the mighty men of Edom be as the heart of a woman in her pangs. (KJV)

~I believe this is in reference to God using America to bring judgement to Iraq. Oh, how the American eagle has flown! After the Iraqis had relinguished their strong holds on the border during the ground assault of 1991 in the Gulf War it was actually reported by Ted Copel that many Iraqis were crying as they quickly surrendered, and I actually heard Copel make a comment, something to the effect of: "They, (the Iraqis), were as weak as women".

Jer 49:23- Concerning Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil tidings: they are fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet. (KJV)

Lets look at these three places.

Damascus~
is the capital and largest city of Syria, in the southwest part of the country. Inhabited since prehistoric times, the city became a thriving commercial center under the Romans and was a Saracen stronghold during the Crusades.

Hamath~
means-"fortress". It is the capital of one of the kingdoms of Upper Syria of the same name, on the Orontes, in the valley of Lebanon, at the northern boundary of Palestine (Num. 13:21; 34:8), at the foot of Hermon (Josh. 13:5) towards Damascus (Zech. 9:2; Jer. 49:23). It is called "Hamath the great" in Amos 6:2, and "Hamath-zobah" in 2 Chr. 8:3. Hamath, now Hamah, had an Aramaean population, but Hittite monuments discovered there show that it must have been at one time occupied by the Hittites.

Arpad~
(Isa. 10:9; 36:19; 37:13), also spelled Arphad, is a Syrian city near Hamath and Damascus. It is invariably mentioned in 2 Kings 19:13; 18:34; and Isa. 10:9.

Syria, along with the Arab world has been confounded with the hearing of many deceptive lies from Arab satilite TV. America has been blamed for many of the bombings of innocent citizens, when in fact it is believed to be the work of Saddam against his own people! For a long time the Arab televised news put out such lies, and it could not be quieted until just recently, after certain TV facilities were bombed. Many Syrians have recently been captured or killed IN Iraq after firing on Allied forces. Some have crossed the borders to join in the resistance.

Jer 49:24-25- Damascus is waxed feeble, and turneth herself to flee, and fear hath seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken her, as a woman in travail. How is the city of praise not left, the city of my joy! (KJV)

~The Syrians considered Baghdad as their stronghold city for terrorism. It was their city of "praise" and "joy". Why?

The words, "the city of", are translated from the one Hebrew word: `iyr (eer); meaning: a city or a place guarded by 24 hour waking or a watch, in the widest sense, as an encampment or guarded post used for terrorism! The word `iyr is used of terror in the sense of excitement arrived from anguishing others!

Brown-Driver-Briggs definition reads: 5892 `iyr or (in the plural) `ar or `ayar (Judges 10:4)-

1) excitement, anguish; used of terror
2) a city, a town (a place of waking, guarded)
STRONGS definition reads:
5892 `iyr (eer);

or (in the plural) `ar (awr); or `ayar (Judges 10:4) (aw-yar'); from 5782 a city (a place guarded by waking or a watch) in the widest sense (even of a mere encampment or post):

`Iyr comes from the word (5782) `uwr-maning: to rouse oneself, to awake, to awaken, to incite; to be triumphant, to act in an aroused manner. Baghdad, like a mascott for inspiration, was most likely their PLO Host center! It was known by U.S. intelligent agents before the Iraqi Freedom Operation that Saddam has been supporting terrorist involvement in Syria and with the Palestine peoples. It is also now confired that places in Iraq (and possibily in Baghdad itself), were used to host PLO training camps! This was recently validated after a PLO camp for terrorist training was discovered in Iraq recently! With torture chambers included!

Jer 49:26-27- Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD of hosts. And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall consume the palaces of Ben-ha'dad. (KJV)

According to the word here- it sounds like Syria, Damascus specifically, will become involved in being bombed at some time during the prolonged war against terrorism. We are in a war not just with the regime of Saddam, but with all world wide terrorists, and any regime that promotes it. Damascus will be bombed too, either by the U.S. and Allieds or by Israel and it will consume the palace of Benhadad!

Ben-ha'dad~
was the son of Hadad. Hadad was a son of Ishmael, (Abraham's son with Hagar the handmaid, not Sarah). Because Ishmael and Esau (Edom) were distant relatives by blood (through Abraham) that both missed out on the promise because of something to do with Isaac. They identified with each other with this much in common; they both despised Isaac-Esau for his father giving his blessings to Jacob instead of to him, and Ishmael, because he lost the full inheirtance directly to Isaac, the proper child of promise!

Later, Jacob's (Isaac's son) name was changed to "Israel", from where the nation of Israel sprung from. And since the Syrian blood line flows jointly from both Ishmael and Edom, they embrace the Arab part inheirited from Abraham, but they despise the Israeli part they never inherited, and hate the nation of Israel today!

They have allied against Israel, and any who supports her. And that means America!
