Byway Riding At The Long Branch Saloon
The high pressure, steel reinforced brake line to my back break line suddenly bursted, leaving me unable to stop in backed up traffic, which came to a sudden stop.

Of all things, it happened just in front of a popular biker bar in Little Rock named, The Long Branch Saloon, owned by a man everyone calls Pappy.

It is the only neutral biker bar in the state where the Bandito Club members, the Vietnam Vets MC Club, the Road Barons, Next of Kin, Booze fighters, Back Road Ramblers, and others mingle together in harmony with an understood agreement of peace and respect.

Many onlookers standing around and on other Harleys said I came less than a foot from a head on with opposite traffic as I steered where the Lord directed me. There was a bad ditch with no shoulder to the right, traffic straight on, and a telephone pole and road obstacles with a very narow shoulder to the left as an oncoming car barreled down towards me.

I rode the thin line between the obstacles past the bar and the liquor store next door with many people coming and going.

I had my black ministers shirt on with it's white collar,(That the Lord had insisted before the trip that I be wearing), and the many bikers who had gathered at this place for their Friday night activities saw what they immediate recognized as a long bearded preacher on a hog with failed breaks riding out the storm. ha.

The Lord quickly brought to my attention an open field where I made a large circle and was able to stop with my heels.

Needless to say, I wasn't going any where from there soon, so I had a great time witnessing to the many bikers who approached me.

After the scooter cooled down, a biker called "Fish", (Jimmy Fisher), broker out his tools and began helping me replace the damaged hose after determing the trouble and obtaining another hose.

I was invited to spend the night on the couch of a couple called Scotty Bo, aka "Hammer" and Daisy Mae. It had been 3 years since I've seen Hammer. He was an old friend from Hot Springs who now lives in Little Rock. I had shared my testimony book with him years ago.

Jimmy Fisher, (Fish), is also an old friend from Hot Springs I haven't seen in 6 months. The Lord really touched all their hearts, especially after seeing with their own eyes how he directed my path from what could have been certain death or serious injury.

The lady's car that almost hit me head on, left 30 feet of skid marks in her attempts to stop just 9-10 inches shy of wiping me out.

I was uneasy about the trip and couldn't sleep the night before so I spent the time praying in bed, questioning the Lord about the trip that he had made clear 5 weeks ago that I was to make. I almost backed out of going, but he reassured me during the prayer that no harm would come to me on the Holy Ghost Harley he's given me. He reminded me again how I was also assured of this when I was first given the motorcycle by the His hand.

When I left that place the word was all over the Long Branch Saloon that 'Preacher Scotty' (as they have dubbed me), had ridden in on a prayer. Many of the eye witnesses that saw the ordeal commented that God had to be with me! It opened a lot of doors to minister the faithfulness of God and Jesus Christ!

Many also confessed after sharing some time with them that they thought they were the reason I was there. Scotty Bo "Hammer" and Daisy Mae were among just two who made such a confession, allowing the Lord's word to be ministered to them. They had been living outside of wedlock, and now they want to make it right, by giving me the honor of officiating their exchanged vows in a holy marriage ceremony now planned.

I felt my purpose for the trip was complete and I left to go back home Saturday, instead of continuing on to Memphis to play in a band.

I had sensed my trip was going to be a time of ministry. I just had no idea how powerful of a trip it would turn out to be!

All hail to the power of Jesus name! To God be the glory!

Jesus was the vine and I was his branch at the Long Branch Saloon.

Now for the rest of the story:

After the ordeal I called home from the Long Branch Saloon and my Internet recording service came on. As I was checking my messages there was one from my wife made while she was visiting mom during my trip. She felt the need to pray for me and quoted the whole chapter from Psalms 128 in the 2 minute recording, placing my name in the text, saying: Ps 128:1-6 1). Blessed is Scott that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways.

2). For Scott shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt Scott be, and it shall be well with Scott.

3). Scott's wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of Scott's house: Scott's children like olive plants round about Scott's table.

4). Behold, that thus shall Scott be blessed who feareth the LORD.

5). The LORD shall bless Scott out of Zion: and Scott shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of Scott's life.

6). Yea, Scott shalt see his children's children, and peace upon Israel.

After I arrived home on Saturday my wife met me with a large smile, happy to see me home earlier than planned. Before I mentioned the near wreak she asked, "The Lord directed me to read (**) Psalms 91 in prayer over you last night, just before sunset around 7:30 PM, after making the Psalms 128 recording. Is everything ok? What does this all mean?"

(**)- Ps 91:1-16 1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2- I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3- Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4- He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5- Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6- Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7- A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
8- Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
9- Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
10- There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11- For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12- They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13- Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
14- Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
15- He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
16- With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation. (KJV)
