A Prayer for You
In The Shadow Of Your Span,
Under Wings of Mercy
 
During one of the greatest trials of my life in 1998,
this prayer swelled up in my soul while praying on the porch.
It really helped me to rest in His mercies that shadow us as wings!
And so, I now share it with you.
Under Wings of Mercy
"Oh Lord, wave on me
under wings of mercy
and gently sweep
away the fears so sweetly!
Bind my wounded wings with virtue
that I may fly! Until that time,
now and forever, may I abide
in the shadow of your span;
perfectly upright in your sight,
knowing I'm a forgiven man.
May my soul take flight from it's
wounded youth and the sins that
so easily beset! Let there be
some integrity in my life before I die!
Before I'm turned to dust let me
arise, shaking off regret!
Because I was created to fly!
To be free! And fly I will with Thee!
Side by side in the shadow of
your span, under wings of mercy!"
